Young Scientist Awards:
The Indian Society of Human Genetics invites papers for consideration
of the YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARDS in the fields of Medical Genetics
(named after Dr. Arvind J. Baxi), Cytogenetics (named after Dr.
K. H. Marimuthu) and Population Genetics (named after Dr. H. M.
Bhatia).
Although the Awards are given under these
three heads, they cover the entire field of Human Genetics.
Categorization, to be specified by the candidate, depends upon
the aim of the study.
The candidate must not have completed 30 years of
age. An age certificate must accompany the paper.
The paper submitted must be the result of
independent work by the candidate. An affirmation to this effect by
the candidate, attested by the Head of the Department and
countersigned by the Head of the Institution, must accompany the
paper. If the work is a part of Doctoral thesis a certificate from the
guide that the candidate is mainly responsible for the findings and
interpretations attested to and countersigned as above must accompany
the paper. Simple review papers, without any attempt at critical
analyses and syntheses of results, are not acceptable. There should be
no joint authors.
Six copies of the paper, complete in all respects,
should reach the undersigned by 15th November 2003. Title page, with
name of author, should be separate. An extended abstract of around
1000 words should be attached.
These papers will be reviewed. Candidates,
recommended for consideration for the awards, will have to present
their papers at the forthcoming Annual Conference of the Society in
Bangalore, during January 2004. The presentation is for 15 minutes
followed by 5 minutes of questions.
The paper should not have been published before the
presentation.
The decisions of the Governing Council regarding
the Awards shall be final.
